I'm 26 years old, been doing this since I was 15. Started out sampling my Dad's Barry White Greatest Hits CD on a basic computer wave editor. Would chop stuff up and make loops, got me addicted pretty fast. I would stay up until the early hours making beats. When I went to bed all I would think about is what the beat sounded like so when I got up for school the first thing I would do is check the beat I made.
Nowadays I try and stay off the computer as much as possible and have the most basic set-up of a Korg ES-1 sampler and an old record player. I dig up £1 bins in record shops and try and make something with everything I buy.
